Mental Health and Lifestyle Medicine
Emmanuella Onwubuya is a third-year medical student with a strong interest in psychiatry and community-centered care. She is particularly passionate about advancing mental health equity for marginalized communities and exploring how social context shapes health outcomes.
Her current research focuses on lifestyle medicine, examining the bidirectional relationship between baseline mental health and engagement with the pillars of lifestyle medicine, which include nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances.
Through this work, she aims to better understand how mental health influences health behaviors, and how engagement in one domain can ripple across others.
Emmanuella is interested in integrating clinical psychiatry, community-based research, and preventive care to promote sustainable, patient-centered approaches to mental wellness.
