Sacha Belinda Choupa
Introducing Sacha Choupa
Red Cross Ambassador, Sickle Cell Research Lead
Sacha Belinda Mapombo Choupa is a passionate advocate for health equity, a dedicated researcher, and a medical professional in training focusing on hematology and integrative medicine. As a first-generation Cameroonian-American, Sacha’s personal journey has fueled her
commitment to addressing health disparities, particularly in underserved communities.
The loss of both her parents profoundly shaped her path to medicine. After her mother’s battle with pancreatic cancer and her father’s unexpected passing, Sacha found inspiration in the transformative power of healthcare. Witnessing the impact of disease on her family drove her to
pursue a career where she could make a difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones.
With a strong academic foundation, including a master’s in health sciences, Sacha has pursued impactful research on thrombosis risk factors in pregnant individuals with sickle cell disease. Her work has earned recognition at the prestigious American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting, where she received the Allistair Abraham Award for her contributions. Sacha has also advocated for sickle cell disease awareness, organizing community workshops and educational initiatives to bridge gaps in healthcare knowledge.
Sacha’s professional experiences include conducting clinical research, advocating for patients, and mentoring students who are navigating the challenges of medical education. Through resilience and determination, she continues to champion holistic approaches to patient care, balancing her academic and professional aspirations with her role as a mother.
Dedicated to inspiring others through her story of perseverance and growth, Sacha aims to empower individuals to overcome obstacles and pursue meaningful contributions in medicine, research, and beyond.
